It is located on the shore of Lake Toro, about 15 minutes walk from Toro Station, and about 400 meters from National Route 391. The museum's name, ``Nitai To,'' comes from the Ainu language, with ``Nitai'' meaning ``forest'' and ``To'' meaning ``lake.'' Materials are displayed In particular, the research results of Kazuo Iijima, who devoted his life to elucidating the insect fauna of eastern Hokkaido, mainly in Shibecha Town, and the large number of insect specimens are highly comprehensive and valuable materials. Also on the site is the main building of the Hokkaido Juji Kan Kushiro Branch, which was built in 1885 and has been relocated and restored to Toro. The building has also been relocated and preserved.
