A Day Trip to Mt Moiwa
Mt Moiwa is a beautiful mountain located in the middle of Sapporo City, which you can access quickly and easily. It is also one of the top 3 places in Japan with beautiful night view. However, you can go up even during the day and have an amazing bird’s-eye view of the whole City of Sapporo. I recommend going during the day as it will be congested in the evening when everyone is rushing up for the night view.
Now is the best time to go up Mt Moiwa when it is not too warm or cold, and you can have a look at the beautiful red and yellow carpet of leaves from the top. Just be sure to check the weather forecast to make sure it is not going to rain.
There are several ways to go up to the top of Mt Moiwa. In this blog post, I will be introducing the easiest way to get to Mt Moiwa and from there, you can decide whether you would like some exercise by hiking up the mountain, or to experience the rope way and cable car ride up. Step 1: City Tram Take the tram from Susukino (すすきの) station to Ropeway Entrance (ロープウェイ入口) station [caption id="attachment_291" align="alignleft" width="1427"]

P.S. On the tram, there is a section by the side where a discount coupon for the ropeway and cable car is available.
Step 2: Free shuttle bus service
From the Ropeway entrance (ロープウェイ入口) station where you alight, walk about 1 min to the bus stop where there is a free shuttle bus service that comes every 15 minutes. The shuttle bus takes you directly to the ropeway’s Moiwa Sanroku Station.
Step 3: Arrival
Once you arrive at Moiwa Sanroku Station, you can choose to either hike up Mt Moiwa or take the ropeway and cable car up. There are 5 hiking courses available for you to enjoy your hike up Mt Moiwa. There are also people who choose to hike up halfway to the Moiwa Hillside Station (中腹駅) and take the cable car up to the top of the mountain from there. If you choose to do so, there is a vending machine selling the cable car ticket at the Hillside station.
There are several facilities available at the stations on Mt Moiwa. There are souvenir shops both at the Moiwa Hillside station and the Mountain top station. At the mountain top station, there is a café and restaurant called THE JEWELS where you can have a cup of coffee, snacks or a meal while looking upon the beautiful scenery of Sapporo.
